There’s a good podcast interview with a manga/anime translator over here that I highly recommend if you like to know what it’s like to be a translator in the industry. Pretty much everything he says about his experiences mirrors mine exactly, it was really weird. Before he could even answer questions given to him I knew what he was gonna say based on my own answers 😛
I’m kinda jealous though, I really wish I’d been able to work on more stuff from the 80s and 90s, I really like that era in Japanese entertainment for some reason. Even the crappiest of old OVAs has something to them that I can’t put my finger on. Maybe it’s the hand-drawn art, or the fact that certain ideas hadn’t been done to death at the time.
